I’m beyond excited to introduce the Freja Vest, the latest pattern in the Just Patterns collection! Designed with versatility in mind, the Freja Vest is that perfect piece you’ll reach for over and over again—whether it’s to dress up a casual outfit or add an extra layer to your professional wardrobe.
The Design
The Freja Vest is all about sleek lines and a semi-fitted silhouette. With princess seams that give you a beautifully contoured fit and a back belt detail that cinches at the waist, it’s designed to flatter. I wanted this vest to feel both structured and effortless, so it flares gently from the waist, landing at the lower hip for a clean, modern look.
To give you options, the pattern includes two pocket styles: discreet welt pockets for a sharp, tailored vibe, or rounded patch pockets if you’re feeling more casual. You can also customize the front buttons for a personal touch, whether you go for understated or make them a standout feature.

Fabric Recommendations
For the Freja Vest, I recommend medium-weight woven fabrics with a good drape, such as wool suiting, wool crepe, lightweight tweed, cotton twill, or linen blends. The sample vest I am wearing in made from a gorgeous herringbone heavy suiting linen gifted by Core Fabrics, which gives it that luxurious feel. If you’re working with plaid or stripes, just keep in mind that pattern matching at the princess seams might take a little extra care or not be possible at all!
Sizing and Fit
The pattern is available in two size ranges—34 to 46 (B/C cup) and 46 to 60 (DD cup). It’s drafted for a height of 5'5" (165 cm), but all pattern pieces include multiple lengthen/shorten lines, so it’s super easy to adjust to your height if needed. I’ve made sure that this pattern is versatile, with easy to alter princess seams, and fits beautifully across a range of sizes, so you can confidently create a vest that feels tailor-made for you.
I wear the grey suiting version in size 34 with the welt pockets and no alterations. Pauline wears her brown linen Freja in size 46 (of the 34-46 range) with the waist relaxed. Lilli wears a green linen one in size 50 with no alterations.
