Dear readers,
I am so excited to finally introduce you to the Christy Cardigan, a pattern I’ve been obsessed with since I first saw a luxury version of it on Katie Holmes in 2019. That effortless mix of cozy and chic, with oversized sleeves and a deep V neckline, immediately caught my attention. But since I don’t knit, I knew I had to find a way to make it myself.
After years of dreaming about it and months of fine-tuning the details, the Christy Cardigan is here!
The Design
The Christy Cardigan is the kind of piece that blends seamlessly into any wardrobe. It has extra-long sleeves, a high-hip length, and a modern oversized fit, balanced with subtle shaping to keep things polished. Thoughtful details like bluff patch pockets, a V-shaped hem, and self-fabric bands make it feel elevated, even without a coverstitch machine.
Choosing the Right Fabric
The Christy Cardigan is designed for mid-weight sweater knits with some structure and drape. Think cotton, wool blends, or synthetic knits—something substantial but with enough softness to drape beautifully. You can also play around with contrasting rib knits for the bands to give it extra definition.
The cover sample is made from merino wool sweater knit, which I highly recommend if you’re looking for warmth and a luxurious feel. This pattern is really all about the fabric, and I’ll be sharing a blog post soon with recommendations from online fabric stores to help you find the perfect material.
Sizing & Fit
The pattern is available in sizes 34 to 60 and comes in two size ranges to ensure a great fit:
- Sizes 34-46: Drafted for a B/C cup
- Sizes 46-60: Drafted for a DD cup
If you’re between sizes, choose based on your cup size to get the best proportions.
