Who I Am

Hello, and welcome to my online sewing space. I’m Delphine. I’m French and originally from the Paris area. For the past decade, I’ve lived all over the world, and I’m currently based in Lisbon, Portugal. Sewing is both my passion and my business, but I’m also a freelance consultant for international organizations, and the mother of a not-so-little human anymore.

It All Started When…

I started sewing over 25 years ago. As a teenager, I was obsessed with recreating garments I couldn’t afford. At the time, though, I didn’t yet have the skills or resources to make my dream wardrobe a reality. Most of my early projects fell short of my inspiration.

I read countless books, old and new. I took pattern-making and draping classes at fashion schools in New York and Paris. I visited exhibitions and studied luxury garments whenever I could. But most importantly, I learned from the immense generosity and knowledge shared by the online sewing community.

Over time, I realized that creating a luxurious handmade wardrobe requires staying true to your inspiration. Patterns are only a starting point: they must be paired with the right fabric and thoughtful sewing techniques.

Since 2013, first through my sewing blog and later with Just Patterns (launched in 2017), I’ve documented my journey and shared the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I hope you’ll join me in sewing our dream wardrobe, one unique garment at a time.

The Patterns

The sewing patterns in my shop reflect what I genuinely want to wear. They are inspired by both current trends and timeless classics. I’m drawn to clean lines and neutral palettes, elevated by distinctive details and thoughtful construction.

I like to maintain close control over both the creative and technical aspects of each release. I handle drafting, grading, instruction writing, and customer communication myself. More recently, I’ve begun collaborating with others for illustrations, sample making, social media videos, and photography.

All my patterns are thoroughly tested. I am the primary model in my product photos, and since 2022, I’ve worked with other sewists to showcase my patterns on a wider range of bodies. My testers, editors, and models are all compensated for their work.

My patterns are designed for dressmakers who already know the basics of sewing. I provide a cutter’s list, a suggested order of construction, and illustrated step-by-step instructions. I believe in empowering makers to build their skills and grow more confident with every project.

Each pattern includes a Resource Page, where I share additional tutorials, blog posts for inspiration, and guidance for more complex steps. I also curate valuable content from other trusted sewing sources.
