The Julia Jeans are relaxed-fit jeans with a wide-leg silhouette that nods to the laid-back cool of 1990s denim. Designed to sit low on the hips or closer to mid-rise, the adjustable side tabs offer a customizable fit that adapts to your styling preferences and the height of your heels.
With generous ease at the hip and a lowered rise, Julia is designed for comfort without sacrificing style. Think the ease of your favorite sweatpants, but in jeans form. The silhouette is roomy and easy to wear, with plenty of space to sit, move, or live your day.
Crafted for makers who love refined details, the pattern includes patch pockets, a traditional zip fly, and flat-felled seams throughout. The zipper construction has been carefully developed to make topstitching cleaner and future repairs easier, because these are the jeans you’ll want to wear for years.
Size 34 to 46 features a streamlined, one-piece waistband. Size 46 to 60 includes a curved waistband with side seams for improved contouring. Whether you finish your seams with an overlocker or bias binding, a full video sewalong will ensure that Julia is an approachable and satisfying project with a polished result.
Samples are sewn in a cotton/hemp blend from Yardblox and 100% cotton denim of different weights. For this pattern, I recommend mid-weight denim (6 to 9 oz / 200 to 300 gsm), cotton twill, cotton-linen blends, canvas, or lyocell/tencel twills for more drape.
Pauline wears a cotton denim sample in size 44 graded to 48 at the waist. Lilli wears hers in size 54 with no alterations. I wear the white and blue samples in cotton/hemp blend from Yardblox in size 38, shortened by 3⅜" (8.5 cm). For reference, I'm 5'3" (160 cm) tall.

Sizing
I draft and grade my sewing patterns for a height of 5’5” (1.65m) from size 34 to 60 (see below). When applicable, the size range is divided between 34-46, developed for B/C cup size, and 46-60, developed for a DD cup size.
If your body measurements are at least one size outside of the size range, I grade up or down at no cost.

PDF Pattern information
This is a PDF sewing pattern, you will receive access to a download link immediately after completing your purchase.
Files are delivered in a zip file meant to be decompressed. The zip file contains:
- Instructions in English and in French with: a cutter's must, a printing layout, an order of operations, and step-by-step illustrated instructions.
- Layered PDF patterns pieces for both size ranges in 3 formats: print at home for US letter or A4, A0, and Projector;
You need to open the pattern files with Adobe Reader and ensure that printing options are set to "Actual Size" or "Custom size 100%".
