Wrap it!

Helena is a breezy wrap dress with a hint of tailoring. It features a deep V-neck and a built-in waistband that extends into wide belt ties to wrap around the waist and cinch the silhouette for an effortlessly elegant effect. It has a relaxed fit through the bust and hips. Shaping is achieved with pleats in the front and back bodice and soft gathers in the skirt. The neckband is grown on the front bodice. The Dolman sleeves are finished with wide sleeve bands to balance the silhouette. The pattern includes two pocket options: practical and discreet inseam pockets or large patch pockets for a casual tone.

Sizes: 34 - 60 (more information).

Samples are sewn with linen, cotton, and linen-viscose blends. For this pattern, I recommend mid-weight woven fabric with some body, such as mid-weight linen, cotton, cotton poplin, linen-cotton blends, and linen-viscose blends.

Best indie pattern I've made!

I just finished this pattern today and I love how it turned out. Such a lovely, chic twist on a simple wrap dress. The inside finishing is just as lovely as the outside of the garment. I really appreciate how this pattern was obviously proofread and tested before being published, normally indie patterns are riddled with errors or the instructions are terrible. That is not the case with this one, it's excellent! If you consider yourself intermediate level or above you will have no issues. This was the first pattern I've made from Just Patterns and now I want to make everything.

Great result!

Very stylish pattern. Easy for an intermediate sewer. A beginner would probably find it challenging. I followed the instructions exactly, except for the hem which I did a different way. I also mixed the pattern sizes which worked just fine.
Highly recommend.

Well Made

This is a very well designed and beautiful pattern. It was very easy to follow along and I appreciate all the seam allowance notches! I made a size 36 and it fits me really well.
I made mine out of a plaid flannel, so a mid-weight fabric. For something mid-to-heavy weight, I would not use as much interfacing as instructed. The sleeve bands, collar, and ties could’ve been made only interfacing half the pieces. The waistband is very sturdy- almost like wearing a corset but still very comfortable. I can’t wait to wear mine when the weather gets cooler!

The dress is great but putting together was not easy even though I consider myself an intermediate sewer. I made two mistakes in that I should have read the instructions all the way through and I got a little lost in the middle. Thank god for seam rippers. My second mistake was making sure that all of the pattern markings were very clear and I didn't. I'll will probably make this dress again because I like the style but it will a while.
