Helena Wrap Dress – PDF Sewing Pattern

I love love LOVE this dress. The only reason I took off a star is because I had to read and re-read and research and look at the photo and look at the online photo's and reference numerous times to get it right. But I even loved the two samples I made so I persevered. Not for beginner sewers and definitely do a mock up before using your good fabric like I did on trial number 2. In the end it was a perfect fit and a beautiful garment.

Best indie pattern I've made!

I just finished this pattern today and I love how it turned out. Such a lovely, chic twist on a simple wrap dress. The inside finishing is just as lovely as the outside of the garment. I really appreciate how this pattern was obviously proofread and tested before being published, normally indie patterns are riddled with errors or the instructions are terrible. That is not the case with this one, it's excellent! If you consider yourself intermediate level or above you will have no issues. This was the first pattern I've made from Just Patterns and now I want to make everything.

Detailed instructions. This was my first time making an item of clothing. It did challenge me as I’m a beginner but it was worth it. So happy with my dress. I have had lots of compliments and it’s given me confidence to make more of my own clothes.

Very stylish pattern. Easy for an intermediate sewer. A beginner would probably find it challenging. I followed the instructions exactly, except for the hem which I did a different way. I also mixed the pattern sizes which worked just fine.
Highly recommend.

Very stylish and high-end

I'm a beginner and I found it easy to follow the instructions. My dress was made with a blended linen fabric (50% cotton, 50% linen). It turned out absolutely gorgeous, it fits perfectly and it's very comfortable. I feel it has a sense of a luxury dress, with details such as the French seams and the built-in tie belt that give it a polished finish and a high-end look.

MY FIRST TIME SEWING- if I can do it, you can do it. Overall, I love this dress and will definitely be making it again, as a dress and as a shirt! As a first-time sewer, there were a few things I wished were more clear in the pattern. Some issues I had could be due to this being the first piece of clothing I have ever sewed. Like, I really struggled with placing the pattern pieces on the fabric, I was not able to make any pockets as I just could not get them to fit. I wish there had been a suggested layout for cutting the pieces. I also could have used some guidance as far as what type of interfacing to use, I think the one I used was much too thick. There were definitely some challenging steps that tested my problem-solving skills, but in the end I think it came out pretty darn well despite my crooked sewing, and I am in love!

This is one of my dream dresses and I was so happy to find this design. I've made one already and LOVE it.

My favourite wrap dress so far! Really good and detailed instructions, so sewing went smoothly. And fits true to size, the size guide was very helpful.

I haven't made this dress yet but I purchased so I could have a seamstress make me a few here in Colombia. I have been looking for a pattern like this for years and was beyond excited to find out. So chic.

This is the absolute best wrap dress i have ever made.
I love the 2 pocket options and how you can create whatever skirt you want with the bottom.

My Favorite Dress

I love all the Just Patterns designs because the drafting works so well for my shape. I am 5’4” and fit size 50-52. Other pattern companies seem to draft for a larger scale at this size. The bodice is always too long & the shoulders too wide. But Just Patterns designs are perfect for curvy petites. I did not make any modifications except grading between two sizes, and the fit was excellent. I’ve made two tops, one skirt and one dress from this pattern so far. I get compliments every time I wear the pieces. I made one of the tops in the same fabric as a pair of Helen’s Closet Arden pants & together they make a beautiful, comfortable faux jumpsuit. For the dress, I only had 1.75m of the fabric I wanted to use. I managed to cut the dress out of this piece by eliminating the waistband. The look is different from intended but still very cool, especially with a matching belt. I highly recommend this pattern, even if you’re new to sewing and are intimidated by the reviews of the waistband. Just follow the directions slowly and watch the tutorial. After you do it once, it’ll make perfect sense, it’ll be a quick sew & you’ll want to make it again & again!

Héléna Wrap Dress

J'ai eu un véritable coup de cœur pour ce patron, et après réalisation il est toujours bien présent. Chic, tout en restant casual, le choix du tissu donne le ton du style qu'on souhaite porter. Après mon premier modèle en wax, je pense tenté une seconde réalisation en lin ou coton lavé, bien plus sobre. Merci pour cette merveille.

Wonderful instructions, elegant dress

I loved making this. The dress is wonderfully elegant. Although it’s got a few technical components in the seeing the instructions are very high quality and I could follow along without needing to guess anything. Well done Delphine on a wonderful pattern, and congratulations on some fine instructions to help sewsits bring this to life.

Lovely pattern but...

My copy is missing pages! Goes from step four to six and is missing the whole collar construction. This was the case in both the end and fr PDFs, and was definitely the section I could have used more instruction on. I figured it out I think but took a very very long time and several tries. Please review and fix these, I'm sure it's just a mistake in a version update.

I just downloaded the item and don't know the quality yet or how good their customer service is.

Well Made

This is a very well designed and beautiful pattern. It was very easy to follow along and I appreciate all the seam allowance notches! I made a size 36 and it fits me really well.
I made mine out of a plaid flannel, so a mid-weight fabric. For something mid-to-heavy weight, I would not use as much interfacing as instructed. The sleeve bands, collar, and ties could’ve been made only interfacing half the pieces. The waistband is very sturdy- almost like wearing a corset but still very comfortable. I can’t wait to wear mine when the weather gets cooler!

The dress is great but putting together was not easy even though I consider myself an intermediate sewer. I made two mistakes in that I should have read the instructions all the way through and I got a little lost in the middle. Thank god for seam rippers. My second mistake was making sure that all of the pattern markings were very clear and I didn't. I'll will probably make this dress again because I like the style but it will a while.

great pattern , i struggled a bit with the instructions and i would highly suggest that you make a video tutorial .
overall result was nice

Oh god this was a difficult one! I’m a beginner and struggled quite a bit but managed in the end. I’m very happy with the outcome though. I wish the instructions were a little bit more detailed and more pictures but a few hours of mulling it over I figured it out.

Poor instructions

I love this design but struggle to make this dress as the instructions are poor an l ack clarity, despite the extra resource pages.

Just make a video tutorial please, and put us out of our misery. I'm not sure I'll ever finish the dress otherwise
