Add a versatile skirt to your handmade wardrobe!

The Yasmeen skirt is a dramatic skirt with exciting seam lines available in 3 lengths: mini, midi, and maxi. The three versions are fitted through the hips, and the midi and maxi skirts start flaring at the knee. Depending on the fabrication and the styling, the skirt can take on a special occasion look or a more casual vibe.

The skirt features an invisible zipper, and the waistband is finished with a facing. The mini and midi versions have an optional lining. French seams and seam binding are used for clean finishings of the unlined versions.

Sizes: 34 - 60 (more information). Each length (mini, midi, and maxi) is drafted similarly but separated to make the files easier to use.

The samples are from brown mid-weight tweed, white heavy viscose crepe, gold jacquard, floral Gobelin tapestry weave, sequins, beige wool suiting, and blush linen twill. For this pattern, I recommend woven fabrics with drape, such as mid-weight silk crepe, noil and satin, viscose, linen, challis, wool crepe, suiting, and tweed or synthetic alternatives. Fabrics with less drape can be used for the mini length, such as denim or cotton twill.

For reference, I wear the brown and blush maxi versions, the sequins midi, and the beige and floral mini samples in size 38 at the hips, graded to a 36 for the waist. Pauline wears the gold mini in size 50 at the waist, graded down to a 44 at the hips, and lengthened by 3” (7.5cm). Lilli wears the white midi sample in size 52-54 at the waist, graded to 54-56 at the hips.

    Palate-cleansing sew with stunning results

This was such an enjoyable sew from start to finish. I made the unlined midi version in a size 8 with no modifications as my dimensions matched it exactly. I was worried about the ease in the hips as it was only 2cm, but it fitted beautifully. This is not a skirt where you want this part to be oversized. I wanted a more structured skirt so I used a midweight denim with 10% wool in it which gives it a little stretch and was a bit more pliable, even though the recommendation was to use a structured fabric for the mini only. It turned out beautifully. The wraparound curve of the side panel creates a flattering silhouette. This is definitely a great timeless pattern to get you out of a sewing funk.

    Brilliant wedding skirt

I purchased this pattern with the aim to try it for my wedding dress. I've made it in a size 10 (in curtain lining for a mock) and it is wonderful, highlights my curves and there's room in the lower part of the skirt to dance and be comfortable :)

I highly recommend this pattern, it is easy to use, and there are guides available if you need help.

    Thank you, Just Patterns.
